We are faced with people that are physically in 21st century and mentally in the 19th.

The era is an era which is difficult to believe even oneself, when we are faced with people that are physically in 21st century and mentally in the 19th. We have lived as oppressor and the oppressed; them thinking with barrel of the gun and we overwhelmed with fright. Now we both are free to use our brains equally. We have been denied to exercise leadership lack of which is reflected in our present situation. Oromo people have attained political consciousness higher than its leaders. Because revolutionaries are being a rare commodity, they are short of leadership that the time demands. Blind selfishness is also observable. One who extremely loves oneself sees everything with spectacle and not ashamed to leave this century and go back to the most primitive relations to appeal for support. For that reason, except going backwards advancing forward is met with obstacles. Because the guns have fallen from their hands our adversaries seem to get confused on how to use their brains for peaceful relations.

In the Gadaa system leadership of peers is provided at every stage of human development. Still putting together peers that have no reservation for each other could be a solution for our problems. Every peer group or hiriyaa have a role to play at each stage of human growth. Now Ethiopian empire is in transition. For the time there is no much to worry about. But being prepared for any possibility is always advisable. To follow what is currently happening, EPRDF was an organization formed by units created by TPLF and guided by democratic centralism. If there are conflicts within it, like all left leaning parties they were resolved internally and never made public. Now, since the other members of EPRDF sided with peoples protesting against it, and dethroned TPLF that is no more in place. The rules being breached by government decisions and law and discipline being overlooked periodically by members is changing the way EPRDF operates. EPRDF was created because TPLF willed it. Later it came out on TPLF as Frankenstein Monster. Members of EPRDF from fear of their constituencies shunned everything put in place by TPLF. Though TPLF had no alternative than accepting will of the people, it is resisting to obey orders from “own creatures”. TPLF is criticizing them for doing what it had never made self-criticism when doing it itself. Coalition of the South was forced upon peoples of the south by TPLF/EPRDF. That is now starting to fall apart. Sidaamaa has decided to quit Southern region and form its own regional administration. It is inevitable that Wala’ita will follow suit. EPRDF is going to be impaired in that part as well. The challenge that this is going to bring on EPRDF accepting rule of law will not be easy. TPLF has polluted those under it and related to it with corruption. Correcting that may bring legal and political complications. Officials that are Tigraaway have proportionally greater accountability than those that were under them. There is no “why me, why not him?”, for everyone cannot escape what is due to one. Red or black all that are corrupt are criminals. What is frightening is capacity of the country to give legal service and correction facilities for all polluted. Dr. Abiy has apologized to peoples of the empire in the name of EPRDF and taken responsibility for all mistakes of that period without consulting with other members. These days Amaaraa and Tigraaway are throwing word at each other outside the EPRDF channel. Democratic centralism has gone to the ditches. All that happening, how can EPRDF stick together and move? For external observer EPRDF is finished. On their part how they are going to pull themselves out wait and see. With Habashaa, except autocracy what is called democracy is never thought of. For that reason, Amaaraa and Tigraaway had never moved together in peace; one has to prevail over the other until submission. Now third party is interfering to break the pattern. They need Teedros III to restore it. Despite x-colonies offering a democratic union they are at each other’s throat ignoring that and even blaming the third party for own follies. They still think of the interrupted duel. That may take all back 150 years. If they settle among themselves by force or peacefully, they may together return to the same trend. They may even get rally from Ethiopianists outside them who have nostalgia for their past guardians as usual. All the colonies that love freedom should get prepared to defend themselves against any possible aggressor and not fail to be vigilant as in the past. But it would be better to form a buffer zone between them before they get the opportunity to destroy themselves and the whole region. Only formation of new democratic union of equals and the free can be panacea for present ills. Being obstacle to one in power without having better alternative is naiveté, and benefits the enemy alone. Government should be neutral to ideas going in society and should not try to impose own dogma. Peace, freedom and democracy of nations and nationalities should have priority over everything else.
